Meditations and Practice Tools
Why
Meditate? What's in it for me?
There are many reasons
to meditate but at first, to the mind, meditation can seem like an odd idea because in meditation there is nothing for the
mind to do or achieve. And so consider this: If you heard that buried treasure lay hidden close within your
grasp – how long would you wait to discover it, before giving up and making busy elsewhere?
This question, asks us to approach the discovery within meditation with openness and curiosity;
especially when the mind might want to move you onto other thoughts, ideas and distractions.
What does the buried treasure look, sound and feel like when you find it?
This, of course varies as we all discover our own unique gems. Research shows
the benefits include, lowered stress, greater acceptance of ourselves and others, increased feelings of well-being and contentment
and one of the most magical - The space required to move beyond challenging feelings and problems; out of which new opportunity
and creativity grow.

What will happen?
There are a few guided meditations
for you to choose, of different lengths. Enabling you to begin and grow your relationship
with that part of you, that is deeper, more aware and richer than thought. It
is here that we experience the hidden benefits and treasures. In fact, all the qualities that the mind works so hard to manufacture are already
there, available and lying in wait, if only we stay long enough to look and connect. At
first you might find your mind is restless, that's fine, it happens in many people's experience. It's almost as
though your thought-filled busy mind doesn’t want you to find the hidden treasure!
Preparation
You’ll require a place in which you feel comfortable and undisturbed;
you may want to dim the lights a little, adopt a soft focus for your eyes; candle light may be suitable. Choose a comfortable
seating position in which you feel settled and supported but also focused. If you choose to lay-down you might fall asleep,
so select a supportive, upright seating position.
